Introverts and Exuberance

So I have been reading this little article from the excellent writer/blogger Jason Boyett, and it has reminded me of a couple of things that would be fun (hopefully) “under-the-hood” type thoughts for folks curious about life for a traveling musician working in congregational music, or what we call worship music. Note 1: I’m a [...]

Hello there again-been awhile since we’ve been too busy on this here plot of interspacenetosphereweb. I thought I would try to write another random thought chat for you folks out there. Behind The Songs: Breathe

I didn’t understand the words at the time but I remember the word Invocation. This word was a prayer or a song that began the service, or at least that’s how I understood it. The actual concept of invocation is to invoke the presence of God or the Holy Spirit. Knowing that God is with us we also say, “God, come be an active part of this service”. The poetry prayer here in this song is meant to be an invocation.

Obviously even today the world is filled with people who thinks there is no God or if there is, He’s distant and uninvolved. I’ve thought the same thing off and on throughout my life. But the great news of our faith was that God did come to us. It wasn’t loud and proud and is only obvious to the heart when we open wide. He showed up as a baby, another strange hard to believe story. Jesus was the picture of God on earth showing us the way and lighting the path. Jesus went to all sorts of people, hookers, thieves, liars, adulterers and the rebellious. He came to make the way back to friendship with God. He came to make it right.

If I could have a passage of scripture that has coursed through my years of faith in God it would be Psalm 27.
Behind The Songs: Deeper In Love

I’ve walked through varying levels of healing in my life. It comes so many ways, prayer, truth from scriptures and friends, counseling, forgiving and being forgiven, and scenes that catch you by surprise painting pictures of redemption. I say often to myself and people that I understand less about God than I did in the past, but my heart loves more now.
Behind The Songs: Let The Earth Awake

Of course this is a familiar passage to many and a prayer that is shouted from rooftops, begged for in prayer rooms all over the world and whispered by businessmen driving to work. God is interacting with his world and his people. He is “God with us”. All those things are in place and true but we live in world that seems to be falling apart at the seams in every way. And God has written a letter to us that remains the answer.
